After more than 30 years of practice, David Rudolf still relishes fighting for the individual against the power of the state or big business. Rudolf founded the firm in 1982, after teaching for four years at the UNC School of Law in Chapel Hill, to represent the rights of people, and the firm has never wavered from that mission.
Rudolf's specialty is criminal and civil litigation. He has taught Trial Advocacy at the UNC School of Law and for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, and Criminal Litigation at Duke University School of Law. Mr. Rudolf has been listed for over ten years in the Best Lawyers in America, was selected by his peers as one of the 100 best lawyers in North Carolina criminal defense, and was named by North Carolina Business magazine as one of the top litigators in the state. In recent years he has successfully represented individuals in civil litigation against banks, securities firms, accounting firms and insurance companies, with verdicts and settlements totaling over $30 million.
Rudolf has also been recognized for his work with professional organizations. He has held various leadership positions in the ABA Criminal Justice Section, and for twelve years served on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He also served for six years on the Board of Governors of the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers, was elected Vice-President of the NCATL, and was the Middle District delegate to the North Carolina Federal Bar Advisory Council.
